Welcome to Outfitter’s Mapping's Online Fishing Journal

Keeping a fishing journal is a great way to help anglers utilize their past fishing trips to catch more fish.  With our Online Fishing Journal you will be able to record important information about your fishing spots which will help you to make decisions in the future on where to fish.

As you will see below, the Online Fishing Journal is simple. You will be able to record the following information about your fishing spots: Water Body, Longitude, Latitude, Species, Month, Moon, Tide, Weather Front, Water Clarity, Wind, Barometer, Lure/Bait and a few personal details.  If you don’t use a GPS, simply use Google Earth to get the general Longitude and Latitude of your fishing spots.

After you add your information, you will be able to create a Google Earth KML File that you can save to your personal computer and pull up in Google Earth to make maps at any time.  Not only will you be able to map out all of your spots, but you will also be able to search your records and create Google Earth KML Files for each search.  For example, if you are planning a trip in March, you will be able to search for all spots that were productive in March and map them in Google Earth.

To create an Online Fishing Journal through Outfitter’s Mapping, you will need to register with us. There is an annual registration fee of only $12.00.

Take a look at the Online Fishing Journal images and descriptions below.

Personal Online Fishing Journal Main Page

When you log into your Personal Online Fishing Journal, a total count of all of your recorded fishing spots will be shown, and you will be able to view each record.

Personal Online Fishing Journal Add Record Page

On the Add Record Page, you will be able to input a new fishing spot and record information that is important to you.

In order to create Google Earth KML Files, you will need the coordinates of your fishing spots. If you don't have the coordinates, this page provides directions for getting the coordinates from Google Earth.

All coordinates must be in Decimal Degrees, so a converter and additional directions are provided.

Personal Online Fishing Journal Edit Record Page

On the Edit Record Page, you will be able to edit any of your recorded fishing spots.

This is helpful when you may not have the coordinates of a spot. Simply come back when you have the coordinates and add the information.

Personal Online Fishing Journal Search Page

On the Search Page, you will be able to search all of your recorded fishing spots based on the Water Body, Month, Moon Phase, Tide, Species or Fronts.

Only the records that match your search will be shown. From there, you have an option to create a Google Earth KML File of just those fishing spots.

Personal Online Fishing Journal Custom KML for Mapping

After you have added records to your Personal Online Fishing Journal, you will be able to create KML Files that can be used in Google Earth.

All of the information that you put in your records will be carried over to the KML Files. You will be able to make custom maps and share information with friends.
